Recommendations for new tyres

Featured Replies

I'm after new tyres (195/50/15) for my Mk6 Fiesta. Both axles are running on Kumhos at the moment but the fronts will need changing in the next few weeks. In all honesty I can't remember how many miles the fronts have done but they've lasted quite well - I'll have to check the mileage I wrote down when they were fitted.

I'm after a tyre that will last well but won't compromise on grip; no point in having a tyre that will last but doesn't grip well on the road. Any recommendations are appreciated

If you are happy with what you have, stick with them.

I had a set of Toyo CF2 tyres on my car, they still have 3mm left of tread on them and have done around 25k miles although admittedly motorway driving, they felt secure in the wet and gripped well in the dry. I have just had them swapped over to the rear and had some Falken 914 tyres put onto the front - same price but not where near as good, felt quite 'solid' compared to the Toyos.

I used continentals when I had a Fiesta good grip and decent wear

Thanks for the replies. I like the sound of the Toyo Proxes CF2 but I think the only speed rating available for my tyre size is 82H whereas my Fiesta's tyres are rated to 82V. Would it not be recommended to fit a tyre with a lower speed rating?

H is still good for 130mph though.

anyway i agree with karl , stick to the same tyres your already using if you've been happy with their performance.

If you are going to drop from a V to an H rating be sure to let your insurance people know.

My car is running Kumhos on the rear and front axles. The rear axle is running 195/50/15 82V whereas the front axle is running 195/50/15 82H. I queried the rating of the front tyres when I had them changed at my local garage and they said the 82H tyres were a little cheaper. I notified my insurance, just in case.
