Spong Mincer Company - Where have they gone?

Featured Replies

Anyone happen to know what happened to Spong the mincer company?

My No.25 mincer needs new feet pads.  Whilst I've tried using  shaped pieces of rubber and leather, but they don't hold the mincer tight enough to the worktop as the actual feet do.  Each time I go to mince something firm (like cartlidge ), the mincer moves.

The feet pads are humped like a belgian bun on a plate: rather than just flat pieces.

Apart numerous ebay listings for other spong mincers, Google doesn't seem to know:unsure:

" 1980 With falling sales of mechanical kitchen equipment, the hardware section of the company was sold off to Salter Housewares Ltd. Salter Housewares Ltd continued production of some key Spong products, such as the mincer and coffee grinder, but these were eventually phased out and production has now ceased. "

In that case, the chances of getting some new feet pads are non-existent.

Even an old packet "new" feet pads, from a Spong collector would be getting on for 40 years old and rather brittle, like my old ones were before they disintegrated

I'll have to make some from scratch, perhaps with one of those silicone dental kits, or get a 3D printer and print a mould. From which I can then cast some feet:unsure:
