vauxhall mokka

Featured Replies

hi all this post is for my dad he has a 1.4 mokka and wants to lower it. is the process the same for most cars as i know the positioning of mounting bolts will be different.

neither of us have dealt with lowering a car before but he like to do things himself like most of us do.

Borrow a Haynes manual from the library and then you have step by step instructions on how to remove and replace the springs. Dont forget to get 4 wheel alignment done after a bedding in period for the springs. A few weeks should do it.

The procedure varies between cars, there are a few different set ups and all have a slightly different approach.

I've just had a look at some pictures of Mokka suspension parts and it would appear the front looks like a typical vauxhall setup, with the 2 bolts at the bottom of the shock.

The rear suspension looks typical vauxhall too whereby you can drop the rear shock bolt and wiggle the spring out.

Haven't worked on one so I'm going on what i see from google images.

It looks like access to the strut top is under the scuttle.

Here is 3 pics from a Renault scenic, wiper arm, scuttle and motor removal to get at the mounting bolts for the strut lol.

brilliant thank you for the advice ill pass the information on to him later.

I just pay my Ford Tech mate £40-50 including alignment as i cant be bothered with the hassle anymore. I used to do it all myself when i was younger including an engine swap but i value my time and sanity more now!

thats not a bad price really for fitting, knowing us it would take  ages to do one haha so worth a look into thanks.

Ive pulled up outside Ford before now and asked one of the Technicians if he does foreigners. He did and charged me £80 including alignment and was done within his lunch hour. That was before my new mate came on the scene.

Might be better not mentioning that part of it to your dad, it might hurt his feelings and also damage your inheritance fund!
