Wheel Movement

Featured Replies

Hi All

Just a quick one I had a accident a few nights ago where the front left wheel on my fiesta took a heavy hit on the curb from a almost straight on angle. It has definitely knocked the tracking out of line and maybe bent the steering Colum. The only thing I am unsure on is that the wheel has been pushed backwards by about 2-3 inches, could this mean something is bent or just purely tracking.

The car will be put on a ramp soon I just wanted to gather as much information before hand.

Thanks In advance

Something is definitely bent!

Either the lower wishbone or if your really lucky the front sub-frame as well.

if it is just tracking adjustment the wheel would not be further back, it would just be turned a bit, like when you turn the steering.

Unlikely the steering column got damaged.

I agree with DieselPig.

Okay thanks I thought wishbone myself, Just praying it isn't the steering column and thanks guys

Have you had a look under the car or perhaps jacked up the car and taken the wheel off?

I had a ruddy great bang some months back. Felt like I hit a housebrick at ~40mph. Instant deflate and rim damage.

Rim repair, new tyre, tracking ~£180 and all seems fine so far, fingers crossed.
