Is this supposed to happen??

Featured Replies

Earlier this evening I opened the boot of my 2009 Fiesta and noticed a power light was lit up on an amplifier I had fitted a year or so ago. The engine wasn't switched on and the keys weren't in the ignition. Does this sound right that the amp would have power going to it when the car is technically 'off'. I've recently been experiencing regular drains on my battery (approx' 2.0 amp draws) which have proved no end of frustration and I'm wondering now if the amplifier is the culprit? I've now disconnected it from the battery.

depends how you wired it up. you could wire it so it is only powered when the ignition is on, or you could wire it so it can work when the ignition is not on. Did you wire it in?   did you instruct someone else in how you wanted it to be wired?

I had a garage do the job for me. It was fitted well over a year ago and I've had no problems at all. The battery drain started in November and has been on-going. I'll get the guy that fitted the amp to check it. I'm afraid I don't know much about how these things are supposed to be wired.
