Featured Replies

Hello,

I have ordered a High flow induction hose from mountune, would I have to declare this to my insurers or not bother?

Thanks,

Coran

Okay cheers mate.  Can't wait to find out how much they are going to put on top!

Always check with the insurers before buying a mod in future, they might not let you do it depending on the insurers, and others will put it up thousands! Daylight robbery.

Yes need to declare all modifications.

I declared mine, no change to premium.

What did you describe it as? Tried ringing them up but the guy could not find the part to put it down as no matter what I said!

Thanks

I just said it was a section of pipe which goes between the air filter and turbo, mainly cosmetic, but can't be seen with bonnet shut.

They went to underwriters and said no change to premium.

It appeared on my renewal as "Other".

Thanks I will give it a go!

I have worked for many insurance companies so I can confirm (what most people think) that there are a lot of stupid people at many insurance companies. some insurers will just assume that if you want to make any alteration to your car at all then you must be some oik boy racer type who is not the type of customer they want.

I never get charged, but then always do it via live chat.

I'm with Hastings, the guy on the phone said no charge as its not a modification? He has said a note has been put on my account though to say Induction hose added.  Does this sound right?

Yes sounds fine as long as they have made a note.

Some insurers are only bothered if it affects the performance of the vehicle  or is a major cosmetic change.

Ah gotcha thank you :)

We would always recommend informing your insurer of any and all changes you make to your vehicle. If you need help regarding modified insurance we have access to several specialist schemes that allow you to add unlimited 'cosmetic' (ie. does not directly affect the bhp) mods for free.

Kind Regards

Dan
