multi plug corrosion - snapped pin

Featured Replies

Hi,
I have a 59 plate fiesta td1.4 with corrosion in the multi-plug that is situated forward and under the battery tray. One of the pins has now broken and the vehicle no longer starts.
What is this part/bit of the loom called please and what should I expect to pay for a replacement part?

would any one have a guide on how to replace it? I suspect its a wing off and loom replacement job. :-(

Many thanks,
Rich

the damaged pin can be removed from the plug and re-terminated without replacing the whole loom but usually requires specific tools to do the job

get an auto electrician to do it for you , only a 15min job and will save you having to buy a pin crimper just for a single repair

if you can see which colour wire it is for that pin then cut the wire off the plugs and join it some other way.  you might need an extra bit of wire to reach if there is not enough slack on it. if desperate you could use screw block connectors of this type to make the connections but I don't like them as a permanent fix

If I was doing it I would use a soldering iron to make the connections (obviously use insulation tape afterwards on the soldered connections). I appreciate not everyone has a soldering iron but they are handy to have. some people might crimp bullet connectors on the wires. I would consider it overkill to buy a new wiring loom section.
