Problems Already

Featured Replies

Hi All. So I've had my 2015 Fiesta 1.25 for two weeks now and it's a great car for the most part, I had already posted about the mpg which wasn't great to start with but has improved the more I've been driving it. I am, however, having two problems at the minute with the car and they are really bothering me.

1 - There seems to be a whining noise whenever the car is at a standstill and the clutch is not pressed in, when the clutch is pressed there is no whining noise. If the car is revved between 1000-2000 rpm with the clutch out the noise is there but with the clutch in the noise goes away. I'm not sure if this is normal as I've not owned a Fiesta before

2 - There is also a squeaking/creaking noise coming from the front of the car whenever I go over a speed bump, it is louder when the car is colder and gets quieter when the car warms up but is still there. I'm not sure if that is due to the cold weather or not but it is very irritating so any help would be appreciated.

Sorry if it seems like I'm picking faults but as this is my first car and I'm paying for it I feel like I shouldn't be having these problems, especially since I've only owned the car for two weeks. Thank you.

You aren't picking faults. You have paid good money for your car. Unfortunately, your concerns seem to be par for the course with the Fiesta. I speak from experience!

Honestly so disappointed. Always loved fords and to be honest this experience wouldn't put me off them. I've got it booked in tomorrow to get the noise going over speed bumps looked at and I might mention the other problem as well. Not a good start though

re creaking suspension in the cold. I know that mazda have had problems with that - google:   mazda creaking in cold

as far as I can tell that is due to the suspension bushes being hard and inflexible in cold weather. I do not know if it could be something like that.

My car is in at Fords today for creaking suspension.   It went in 2 weeks ago and they fitted a new wishbone but that didn't cure it.   I'll report back when I get the car back later today.

Top mounts are a common problem too.

Mines is going in today to get looked at so I'll just post an update after I know more.

So it's been looked at and there is no evidence of nothing wrong. They said it looks perfect underneath and all the springs etc look brand new and when I drove it with the mechanic there there was no noise which is typical

Just got my car back and the cause of the creaking noise was the front anti roll bar D bushes.   They've been replaced and the noise has gone.

Incidentally, one way of proving the noise is to do what I did and record it on your phone.   I set the voice recorder running, placed the phone on the floor and drove over a couple of speed humps.

I'm going to leave it and see how it is as it has completely disappeared and is making no noise, they suggested to keep an eye on it and see if it gets worse. They spent a while looking over the car and there was nothing. If it is still there in a week I'll be taking it back. As for the other noise that isn't anything to worry about so I'm just forgetting about that
