Quickest/cheapest way to fix broken window winder

Featured Replies

Hi, what might be the quickest and cheapest way to fix this? Had to squeeze in the car with little room to open the door and literally ended up kicking it off as I got in -_-

I tried super gluing it back on but it wouldn't even stay for a second. I've had to sand it down because every time I automatically reach for it, my fingers end up being cut to shreds

Cheers in advance

Replace it, that won't glue as it's too soft.
The arm unclips by running the taut edge of a cloth behind it in a sawing motion.

Thankyou! I ordered the part and feel confident how to swap it.

Thankgod I don't need a new door

quickest cheapest fix if you did not mind the cosmetics would have been to drill a hole right through and put a bolt, suitable washers and a nyloc nut right through it . obviously you could not do the nut up tight otherwise the knob would not turn, hence the nyloc nut.

Some would then say that is dangerous because in an accident the knob would not break off easily (they are designed to break off easily to help avoid injury). if that concerned you a plastic nut and bolt could be used.

I know you have now ordered the part but my comment above may be of use to someone else in the future who wants to fix the same thing and not wait for a part in the post etc

Thankyou, I actually considered that option before ordering but the alternative is pretty cheap and easy so I went for it
