New car slight problem!

Featured Replies

I've just realised I've been posting everything in the wrong section, apologies to anyone and everyone🙄

ANYWAY..

Ive very recently bought a 65 Plate Fiesta Black Edition (140ps)

the car is unbelievable compared to my last Fiesta Edge (60ps) - I know.

But there's a slightly annoying problem with the seatbelt, I've managed to make it work (sometimes) but I'd like to get it solved.

This the post:

Let Ford fix it. That's what warranty is there for. Tampering with seat belts is not a good idea. They will save a life, so let the experts fix it while its free to do so!

Get Ford to do it but if you're adamant to do it yourself, stick a thin object eg a knife behind the belt in the slot and wiggle a bit then it will open, bloke at work had a problem with a poorly made belt buckle on a dog seat belt.

I didn't buy the car from a Ford Garage? And as far as I am aware I've nothing to say that I have a warranty? Or will they take into account the age of the car and take it as it is and assume it's under warranty? ...if that makes sense?

Warranty is on the car not the owner. As your car is under three years old and I presume under 60,000 miles, all ford dealers should honour your warranty without any paperwork.

All new Fords come with a 3 year/36,000 mile warranty.  However, I'd check in your manual/service book to see how that transfers in the event of a change of ownership.  My advice would also to be to get Ford to fix it if you can - seatbelt's are not things to mess about with.  If it fails when it is needed the consequences could be catastrophic.  Did the car not come with any sort of warranty from the supplying garage in any case?

Congrats on the new car!  Im sure you really notice a difference compared to the edge - I certainly did and I only went to a lowly 1.25 zetec!  The black/red edition is a great wee car to drive (bro in law has one), though i find the suspension a bit hard for my bad back!

Ahhhh I see! Thanks for the clarification everyone!

I'll have a proper look tomorrow I've only glanced through it quickly..

Thank you! Best investment I've made by far. I don't understand how I lived with that 1.25, although the new one is only a 1.0😂
