stereo not working

I was wondering if anyone could help i have a 2004 fiesta and have just changed the stereo over from the 4500 3 slot to a new stereo and for some reason the adaptor and the stereo do not want to work. All the connection seem to work in other cars and have been tested and the main connection in the car still works as i have tried it on the old stereo but im lost as to why the adaptor and the new stereo dont work. Any ideas would be greatly appriecated.
