MK6 Zetec S MPG

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

Newb member to the forum but long time reader. I'm looking at getting a MK6 Fiesta Zetec S to replace my Focus and was wondering what sort of MPG I should expect from either a petrol or diesel. I currently do a 70 mile round commute, mainly motorway and I'm getting in the low 50's from my 1.6 tdci Focus but the mileage is flying up on it (123k) and the little problems are getting a bit too frequent so I'm getting rid. Always had a soft spot for the MK6 Fiestas since I had an ST a few years ago so I'm looking for another.

Having trouble deciding between a petrol or diesel, petrol would be my preference but I don't know how much worse it would be on fuel than the tdci on the motorway. There's a chance I'll soon be working a lot closer to home soon which would involve no motorways so that's also pushing me towards a petrol but for now I'm thinking the diesel may be a better shout.

Anyone on here that does a similar sort of drive in either the petrol or diesel your input would be much appreciated!

Cheers

Hi, i had a mk6 zetec s for a few years and motorway mpg was not that great, it sits at 4,000rpm at 70mph so is getting worked a lot, around town it was not to bad, i would say around 37mpg average, tank full to empty would be around 350-375 at a push

Chris

I currently own a Zetec S, like Chris stated the engine gets worked more than expected at 70mph, however my current mpg is at 34.4mpg. I've spent months "eco-driving" to get it to that point was originally at 27mpg.. overall, id say if you don't push the car with acceleration to much you'll be fine, I do motorway driving everyday and the cars mpg is steadily going up.

If it's in your budget I'd have a look at the 100ps Ecoboost fiesta. Not quite the same performance but excellent mpg.
