Program a key (Mk7)- done

Featured Replies

Is there a way (to start with) to program the remote I bought from eBay just to unlock the car (to start with)

obviously the blade is wrong as is the chip(I'll address this later)- next I'll order a cut blade from eBay (from a pic of the original as I don't have the code)

this is the style of key

Some older models you could just put it in the ignition and turn it multiple times and it will do it. Have a search on the forum for your model. You will need an existing programmed key though I believe. Otherwise you will have to get an auto locksmith and they will cut and code it for you

Thanks - that's correct- seatbelt on, original key in ignition turned to position 2 and back 4 times then press lock on the new remote and lock on the original and hey presto - now both will unlock the car- now to get the chip programmed
