BR36
Hi all, Looking for a rear silencer for my sons Fiesta, all searches using the reg number list a square silencer which appears to clamp onto the centre section. Looking at the current exhaust though, it looks like an integrated centre/tail section with no joint over/near the rear axle. Am I missing something? Proautocare
You need to cut and sleeve the tailpipe to the centre section when fitting an after market exhaust on this model. The reason being, otherwise you would need to remove the whole rear axle assembly to get a one piece system to fit. Ford fitted the axle assembly AFTER the exhaust on the assembly line! Not such a bright idea eh?
BR36
So this is the original exhaust at 78k miles? Can you buy the sleeve somewhere?, can't see it listed as an item on the silencer searches.

stef123
No need to fit a sleeve, the new backbox will come with the pipe already expanded to fit over the original pipe - you just need to cut it and clamp it on
BR36
Thanks for your help everyone, fitted rear silencer today. Worst possible position to have to cut the original with the grinder but it's on now and sounding good.
