Engine cuting out

Featured Replies

Has anyone got any ideas? All mechanics i have seen seem stumped.

My engine cuts out when breaking, radio stays on and starts up again fine. Engine does not stall, just dies. Car does not misfire, revs seem fine. Does not do it all of the time and other wise runs fine. AA came out but was unsure. Diagnostic machine done but no error codes. Another garadge again not sure, Another diagnostic done but again no error codes. Spoke to ford who do not know of any issues like this. Does not seem to make a difference if engine is cold or warm.

My car has 88000 miles, last serviced in May, has a manual transmission.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Sounds like you may have a sort in the wiring loom somewhere possibly.

I had this problem in a 2014 Titanium Focus ( 1 ltr ecoboost ), would cut out then restart. Garage could find nothing wrong ( computer says no )  , it stopped doing it for a while after using premium petrol but this turned out to be a red herring. The car stopped completely on my way to a hospital appointment and had to be towed to my local ford dealer. It was in the garage for just over three weeks them changing everything what For told them to do, finally the problem was found to be simply a loose or poorly connected earthing strap in the engine compartment.

Thankyou, ill look into that. I did notice today (although may be clutching at straws) when i rev the car, as the rev counter comes back down there is a very small shudder. Think i can only notice it as i am parked and not actually driving.
