Fiesta ST (Mk7) starter issue

I have a 2014 Fiesta ST which has an intermmitent starter issue that the garage ive taken it to a couple of times cant seem to diagnose!
Every so often it wont start, not even attempting to turn over. The only way to get it going is to take out the starter relay and jump the connections with a cable, which isnt the greatest solution!

Seems to be no pattern to this and I cant recreate it happening at all. Any ideas on how this could be fixed or what could be causing it?

    If jumping the relays output always work then it could well be the relay that is faulty - try swapping it out. It could be something further back (e.g. ignition barrel) but a new relay ought to be a cheap and easy place to start.
