can a 15" steel with a fairly thick tyre be used as spare on 16" bloke on FB selling a load for decent price



I guess you can as most space saver spare tyres are not the same as the one it is replacing. Where possible you should add an inch to the 'standing height' of the new tyre to make up for the smaller rim. In your case it is an inch as you are using a 15" with 3x 16" wheels. Some cars come with different size rims to the front and rear but generally the rims should be the same size across each axle.

yh i they are fairly thick tyre if he replies ill get one £5 cant complain ill be checking the rim and Tyre tho before i hand the money.

If it's for a spare and it gets you to safety if you have a puncture it's well worth it. Just remember to keep an eye on it when it's in the boot, check it doesn't lose air over time.
