My Fiesta - From Start to Current

Featured Replies

Hi all, so not really posted my motor up, but i passed my test 2 weeks ago (1 minor - ooosh lol) so i've been posting more now (was all kept a secret whilst i learnt to drive from my family/friends) but thought i'd show off my motor, show yer some of the adaption's I've had done to help me (i have achondroplasia which is a form of dwarfism). Still more work to do on how i want it to look, but at the moment getting a lot of compliments. (hope to get it on a stand at some point) Took good few month's as i had to pay for it all (adaptions etc) and arrange it all myself to be done. Some of it was done in house by dad.

so as can see, automatic I've gone for as just genuinely more easier for me to deal with. As i was struggling to select the button to release from park etc with belt on, a company made a easy release lever to i can just pull & push's button with ease for me to select. They then made a same sort of lever for the handbrake. And then custom made the pedals with a platform flooring (this is going to be carpeted & made bigger for me) takes less than 5mins to all take out so someone else able to use the vehicle. Then as i was learning to drive i was leaning forward a lot to grab indicator where as most just hit it with there finger when turning, purchased an adaption i see online & we fabricated it more to benefit me. The seating is no different, i have a booster seat just used as a lumbar support but nothing to raise me up as seat is very good, also separate headrest - currently dealing with leather custom interior company who are going to make the lumbar support look better/headrest to match the current leather interior/stitching/style of what's in the vehicle at moment. A hydrualic bonnet strut was added so can go up easier for me, a small metal clip to attach to bonnet latch just before it goes up with tough handle so i'm able to pull bonnet down and unclick it when just about to shut the bonnet. Same sort of thing for the boot.

last pics are of the car how it is currently with bit of lowering (30 all round eibach), st spoiler fitted, new gel badges all round changed, private plate (a present), front windows tinted with sun strip & changed from 16" to 17" alloys. Clear indicator bulbs on the way from Autobeam to detango it.

Will upload more pics when it start's to take more shape - getting Ariel mast, washer jets, window wiper arms all done panther black. brake calipers to be painted. and ambient light all round inside to be changed (when i can find someone able to do it) then when stopped spending money, will upgrade factory speakers with sub/amp and possibly a new head unit.

Sorry if gone on, but having kept it all a secret for last 4 months it just feel's great to show

Congratulations on passing your test! :)  The freedom feels great.

How much did it cost to have the modifications made, to make driving the car easier for you?

Hi, thank you. Yeah to be honest, relying on other's for lifts and spending over £3,500 a year one way to work in a taxi i just got fed up with, lol

around about £1,200 for all the adaptions to be done.

Jesus, that's a lot of money for minicabs!  You need to plan a road trip now :)

Always wondered how much changing cars like that costs.  Like with driving instructors and dual controls.

Car's looking good anyway.

Yea i also purchased dual controls in that price and were fitted to give an instructor more reassurance. I found a bloke who taught auto's only & be fair we were both on same wave length so was really good from the start. Now they can come out & be sold on. The pedals will go into any other car now. the lumbar support should be the same. And with ref to the other's they should all work, if not some small minor things to be changed, but have the whole idea so can easily fabricate new. but i plan to keep the motor for good few years now. 15 plate, with 12,500 on clock, i'm happy with that.

Great to see these engineering solutions to make the car work better for you; thanks for sharing Lewman.

Well done & congrats on passing your test................

Congratulations on passing your test

The car looks good and the alloys go well with the black paint. Perhaps an S/ST honey comb grille to finish the front off?

I think i need to change the rear part first, not keen on the plastic.

Well done on the test pass. Top work.  Nice motor, and very interesting adaptions.  Following amazing my right elbow some years ago I don't have full use of my right hand so use a suicide knob in the 10 O'Clock position, though that's pretty mild compared to the clever adaptions on yours.
