Worth upgrading to "Performance Plug Leads"?

Afternoon all, 

Looking at possible mods for my mk7 S, anyone upgrade there spark leads ?

Found some on montune wondering if they're worth it other than just the better look in my engine bay.

In performance terms, no.

 

However, in longevity terms, yes.  Standard plug leads use a form of nylon string impregnated with carbon as the conductor, and they break down steadily with age.  Good quality ones use a steel wire core which won't degrade with age and use.

SOLID CORE CONDUCTOR WIRES

Solid metal (copper, tin-plated copper and/or stainless steel) conductor wires are still used in racing on carbureted engines, but can cause all sorts of running problems if used on vehicles with electronic ignition, fuel injection and engine management systems, particularly if vehicle is driven on the street — and damage to some original equipment and aftermarket electronic ignition and engine management systems can occur. Solid metal conductor wires cannot be suppressed to overcome EMI or RFI without the addition of current-reducing resistors at both ends of wires.

At the end of the day you have a 1.6L Fiesta. To you and me, a HT lead is a HT lead and is one the last things you would upgrade.

I can't believe that anyone would think that "special" plug leads would make a difference.

Then again, painting the disc calipers is pretty much as stupid. As are changing the yelloiw bulbs, black alloys, baked bean can exhausts etc etc etc.

Of course, I'm an oldbie (almost 70), I bow to the intelligence of the younger driver.

My 125 seems to blow away most others.

I don't mind painted calipers if the colour is chosen with care, but the only colour drums should be is black.

Well I'm 60 and have all of the above and much (exept the plug leads as I don't have them as such), And much more and I enjoy the enthusiasm of the young driver and moder.I indeed  was young once and did all that and more in those days too .My 340 BHP 2.5 5 cylinder  indeed does blow most cars away unless they are something like a big Audi or BMW but that's not the point of it. It just puts a smile on your face every time you drive it  and that's what the young drivers want with their cosmetic mods

Good heavens, at a mere 50 I'm suddenly feeling young and sprightly!

Obviously not because they're Yellow lool! 

They are called performance leads and it doesn't suggest why they are better performance than standard leads, hence my question.

I didn't assume they would benefit the car in extra performance, thats exactly why I posed the question :)
