1.0 Ecoboost oil leak

Featured Replies

So Ford had my car for a day to investigate an overheating problem and yesterday I find it's now leaking oil. I'm guessing they ragged it to try to get the temps up, as it was fine when I dropped it off.

Many ideas where the leak might be?

That seems quite a spread. Any indications on the underside of the bonnet?

I'd clean it all up and then see where it starts reappearing. If you check it regularly you should hopefully catch it before it covers too wide an area again.

Might they have driven it without the oil cap or dipstick?

So I gave the engine and bay a good clean. I then ran the engine without noticing any leaks or spray. I've done some short runs, some stop start and today a long drive with some high rev, high boost sections. Perfectly clean. I guess the morons at Ford ran it without  the oil cap, or spilt a heap of oil when topping it up and didn't bother cleaning it. Either way, problem is hopefully gone. Thanks MJ.
