I am currently looking about remapping my ford fiesta 1.5 tdi, but I don't know if remapping is either safe or reliable,

I came from a very old car to a new fiesta so I am very particular on trying to keep the car in good condition! All I wanted to know is, is it worth it and how reliable is remapping? Has anyone done a remapping on this model of car? if so Please let me know how it went!! any information will be helpful!
