Diesel Particulate Filter Efficiency Below Threshold Bank 1

Featured Replies

Hi.

Just got this error coming up on my car (mk4 Titanium X sport 2.2). Can this be cleared with a motorway run at high revs or is the filter goosed?

The car is still driving as normal at the minute.

What does this hose actually do?

Everytime my car tries to regen, there is a burning smell and smoke coming from under the bonnet from the back of the engine.

Could the two be related?

Not too sure TBH . Seems they connect the pressure sensor to the DPF/Exhaust system.

I just googled your fault message and that thread came up on the search.

They do indeed connect to the DPF pressure sensor, but normally if the have burnt through you will get the EML showing on the dash

definatly check the dpf pressure hoses at the dpf, so common for them to perish and break up. did one a few weeks ago on a mates car. we bodged it up by cutting off the perished bit and joined another bit of old hose that was simular bore to it.
cleared codes, been fine since.

the pipes connect to either side of dpf so the sensor can detect a pressure difference in dpf. if blocked the difference in pressure exceeds a certian limit and this triggers the regeneration process.

you can get the hoses off ebay for around £35

Any link to the hoses so I know what to get if they are needed?

You can use 7mm internal bore  silicone fuel pipe.

Hose was in bits, my mechanic is changing it at the minute.
