Yreg Fiesta radiator sm leak

Featured Replies

never had any trouble with my Fiesta until now. i live is south-ish Manchester. any ideas on what to do with a small dripping leak from radiator. Car is losing water from coolant. got towed off Free breakdown area of M60 yesterday and a friend found out it was the radiator. i don't know what to do? i was trying to get to Chorley for something i bought but that didn't work out.

George (fiesta) starts absolutely fine. so until i find out about where to go or a friend who knows a mechanic i will keep bottles of water in car.

if this isnt too much to get fixed i will go for it whilst i better look around as George is getting on :((

any advice will be so helpful.

thank you all

you need to examine the point of leak. has the radiator corroded through? was it hit by a stone?, is it leaking where the plastic end tanks are crimped onto the core?(assuming it is that type, i stopped one of those leaking by crimping a bit tighter with some pliers.). is it leaking where a hose goes on it? if one of the water channel sections is leaking part way along you might get away with squashing it where the hole is with some pliers and then putting radweld in the coolant.  hard to say what best of course of action without more detail on the leak.

of course buying a new or 2nd hand (guaranteed) radiator might also be an option to consider

thanks i will see if i can see where leak is. a friend did look under so he may be able to help. also i've been told about a radiator sealant. Cars.... but i love my little George he never lets me down. i will do as you suggested. thank you so much

radiator sealants can not achieve the impossible in spite of what some makers might claim. they can have some effect on very small leaks (more like seepage leaks). But it could be a waste of money just putting some in, without a proper examination of the exact point on the radiator of the leak.
