I have to ask ... what am I missing?

Do you think thats to cheap.

A year old with 20k miles, ex-rental car - £12k buy it now? Sounds about right to me.

No, I think it's overpriced. He wants £12K - I paid that for mine brand new and mine's a higher spec car.

It's done 20,000 miles just about

That wasn't a 'no' to you Silverfox - but to Fiestalad's question.

the old, 'dont be gentle its a rental?'

Nah it's okay. And in response to myself, I think that £12k seems normal as a "buy it now", as they are generally more than the person listing is hoping to get!

Consider that I paid £10k more or less for the car in my sig in October 08 when the car had 12k miles aged 16 months ... it seems a damned rip, eh? But with Fiesta prices a bit loopy ... anything could go.

He says he’s a motor trader which makes me think …why not sell it through the usual channels i.e. a garage?

Could it be as a private seller he doesn’t have to give any sort of guarantee?

And as others have said - ex-rental car he probably bought at a trade price, owned by his wife who makes you the 3 owner –at £12,000+ not what you call a bargain

double post

God loves a chancer, right? I wonder if it'll sell or be re-listed at a later date?

I used to work at a credit hire replacement vehicle place and they buy batches of cars for extremely reduced prices, they get ragged something stupid for a year or certain milage and then sold for book price. They make most of their income from doing it, considering they are making nearly double on the profit of each car.

Me personally wouldnt buy an ex-rental, after seeing the hammering they go through by so many different people.

x-rental normally dirt cheap of the company that rents them out coz they know themselves they had a hard life...I plan to buy the ZS after my lease is up coz it be cheap...but I know I will be looking after it! lol! 12k seems too much.

But when did you buy it and what was the retail price at the time. He's selling that car now against todays retail price so what you, or he paid for it is irrelevant.

Since I bought my 1.4 Tit with kit and tech pack for £11,000, there have been numerous price rises and if I was to sell now I would probably get more than my money back. The current RRP for the same spec car as mine is £16,446. The cheapest online price is £13,690.

Bearing in mind the length of the waiting list for factory built cars (14 weeks for mine) then I guess someone might pay the full price for it . . .
