SYNC 1.1 APIM module configuration

Featured Replies

Hi, I'm replacing my AM5T bluetooth module with a D1BT module from a fiesta, and I think I'll need to reprogram the APIM, does anybody know where I can find the configuration for  a SYNC 1.1 2014 Focus?

Try the following AS-BUILT configuration:

7D0-01-01    111F 88C0 0354
7D0-01-02    4000 001A
7D0-02-01    044E 4C00 0078
7D0-02-02    00DB
7D0-03-01    0000 0000 00DB

This configuration is for a SYNC 1.1 APIM module in a Focus MK3 with Emergency Assistance. Vehicles with Emergency Assistance have the additional GPSM module which constantly monitors the GPS location of the car. If a crash is detected by the RCM module the SYNC system automatically calls the emegency services and transmits the GPS location of the car.

Unfortunately not every SYNC based Focus MK3 has Emergency Assistance. Whether the car has Emergency Assistance or not depends on the market (country) and production date of the car. Using a configuration for a SYNC 1.1 APIM module which includes the Emergency Assistance settings on a vehicle without Emergency Assistance results in several DTC codes and some warning messages. On a car without Emergency assistance you can try the following AS-BUILT configuration:

7D0-01-01    019F 0840 03С4
7D0-01-02    4000 001A
7D0-02-01    0452 5300 0083
7D0-02-02    00DB
7D0-03-01    024D 0000 002A

Is there any tutorial on how to make this changes on the car?

1. Open the Forscan program and wait until a connection with the car is established.

2. Go to the configuration tab (with a processor symbol).

3. Select "APIM  Module configuration (AS-BUILT Format)".

4. Make a backup (or printscreen) of the original settings.

5. Change and save whatever you want.

Hi JW1982,

do you have as-built data for a Sony nav w/10 speakers and Emergency Assistance from a SYNC 1.1 APIM?
i have struggles to find something.. I am from Germany and in Germany nobody before had swapped their SYNC APIM...
Thanks in advance.

At this time I do not have the SYNC 1.1 APIM configuration of the 10 speaker Sony audio system.

To retrieve the correct configuration I need a license plate number or VIN number of a Focus MK3 with a SYNC 1.1 based 10 speaker Sony audio system. Unfortunately these are very hard to find.

Just for your information,
i've had successfully swapped a SYNC 1.1 module into my Focus ST and it works like a charm with the as-built data from JW1982.
He got the as-built data of a VIN of a friend of mine.

Does anybody have a changelog of the Sync v5.10 or v5.11??

Hi, I've just swapped modules and it worked, apart from a few things. Global window closing doesn't work anymore, which is a real bummer, is there anyway to fix this? And also, I can't find spotify when searching from apps in the sync apps menu.

The windows need to be initialized. This can be done by performing the procedure that is listed in the owners manual.

Recently Spotify stopped supporting the Ford SYNC system. You either have to accept this or you have to install an older Spotify version on your phone.

I bought an ELM327, I can connect to it, but it can't read vehicle information, it says to make sure that the ignition is turned on, but when I tried another app, it can read vehicle information just fine. Is there an alternative to Forscan?

Is it a modified one? Like has it got a little toggle switch on it?

Forscan is the best software (that isn't specialist and cost over £1000) available for Fords.

Hi guys,

Am trying to see if my unit, the old (focus 2013 built)monochromatic blue one can show bluetooth song info as can my fiesta.

I love to play around so I bought BT elm unit and forscan. All working as it should.

Thing is this I only have 3 lines in apim as-built 7D0 1 1, 2 1, 2 2 and after changing the values nothing happened.

Any ideas where to look or where to find the coding info of sync 1, that is the one I have I think anyway. Was able to find this for sync 3 ...

Any ideas would be appreciated

Filip

A 2013 Focus did have SYNC 1.0. This system does not support any track/MP3 info when using Bluetooth Audio.

If you want the track/MP3 info to be shown when using Bluetooth Audio you have to replace the SYNC 1.0 APIM module for a SYNC 1.1 APIM module.

Apologies for coming back to an old topic, however would the first configuration work for a MK3 focus with the 9 speaker Sony stereo, Sync1.1 APIM and emergency assistance? Thanks!

That configuration should work.

I have a 2015 F250 with APIM problems and haven’t found much info until this post. Mine is SYNC 1.1 and it works after a  reset and the vehicle is off. It quits working shortly after the vehicle is started. Is this likely a bad APIM, or could something else be causing this issue? I am having a hard time locating a used one with the same part number and no one seems to repair these.

Thanks

Hi All

Apologies for bumping an older thread - haven't introduced myself on the forum yet either, but will do shortly!

I have a quick query on this - I've successfully installed and coded an E1BT module to my Focus with no issues - but a bit of OCD in me leads me down a rabbit hole I'm not sure if it even matters or not (or hopefully will ever have to find out).

My car is a 2013 Focus, came with Sync 1.0 with Emergency Assistance and 1x USB.

My new module is coded and I used the code in this thread to get it all set up - now in Forscan in the Module Configuration, (non ASBUILT), I see the drop downs for various options - with the coding above, the 'Emergency Call Strategy' is set to North America rather than Europe, and the country code is set to NL rather than GB.

I've managed to change the country code to GB, however every time I try to set the strategy to Europe rather than North America, upon the module reboot I get a voice message telling me there's a fault with Sync and to visit the dealer.

Does it matter that the strategy doesn't match my region? What number does the Emergency Assistance dial in the event of a crash, I assume 112?

I can enable the second USB socket in Forscan and get the option for it - I might dump my old iTunes library onto a large USB stick and hide it behind the dash plugged in to the second USB socket.

Cheers,

Nick
