WS (MK7) performance

Featured Replies

Hey guys, I'm Damo and I own a 2009 model WS (MK7) Fiesta CL with a 1.6L TiVCT engine and in manual. I'm just wondering what you guys have done to yours to increase performance of the little beast, I think its quite underpowered, it would be great with a few extra kilowatts under the bonnet I reckon.

I've been looking at exhausts but no one actually sells them down under here in Australia, I have to import them from Europe which is a bit of a !Removed! in exchange rates and shipping fees, I could probably get a system custom made cheaper from a local exhaust shop I reckon.

What is the ideal diameter for the TiVCT engines to increase performance?

She's got a bit too small engine for my liking, only 1.6L :'( Also, with exhaust and remap, how much increase would I be looking at? The stock 0-100km/h time is a bit slow for my tastes.

Check out Mountune and also Pumaspeed for some idea on performance increases and upgrades. There is also a fairly good selection of parts (even a supercharger :o ) on European Parts. It's all very expensive and will void your warranty though...

The Mk7 modding scene is growing rapidly in Europe, try running some foreign forums (from Germany etc) through a translator for some useful info on mods. A performance exhaust, manifold, sportcat/catback, airfilter and remap would give at least 140ps according to mountune, and cut 0-60 (mph) by 2 secs.

Anyway, have a look at the above sites for some ideas, and welcome to the forums :)

Thanks, at the moment we've got a few Aussies interested in a group buy from European-parts, everything is ultra expensive because of exchange rates and import taxes.

A lot of the stuff on their site that isnt Ford branded is imported. Maybe check similar sites from other countries with a better exchange rate (is the Austrailian Dollar weak at the moment?). Dont forget that you wont have to pay the high German VAT that is included on the EuropeanParts website

I thought all you lot drove V8 Holdens, V8 Fords or Utes.

Kinda begs the question - why buy it if you feel the engine is too small and the car underpowered?

Kinda begs the question - why buy it if you feel the engine is too small and the car underpowered?

The story goes like this:

I had been searching for my first car since 2007 since I got my learners permit at 16, I was dead set on a manual BA XR6 Falcon and I had $18,000 to spend (2009), I went to about 20 car dealerships but all of them had no manual Falcons, the majority of them are Auto because Australians are lazy "c u next tuesday's", theres about a $5000 premium for a manual, so I had just enough cash but no one actually had any, all the private sales online where over $18,000 and very overpriced with no options, autos come in at about $11,000 - $13,000 and there where billions of them, all optioned up but I hate auto. So I had given up and changed my mind, I came across this Japanese Import dealer and they had 2 mint R34 Nissan Skylines, for $11,000 and $12,000 respectively and in manual, I went to the dealership and checked them out, I organised a test drive, but the !Removed! sold both on me 2 days before, so being !Removed! off that night I searched the internet and come back with a Mazda 6 Sports Luxury in manual, in my pricerange just under and they had this nice E36 BMW 328i Coupe, goody. Anyways driving to this dealership, we stopped by a Mazda dealer to check out their used car lot, after we finished there I arrived at the dealership and the Mazda sold on me 15 minutes before I arrived at the dealership, if I hadn't gone to Mazda, it would be sitting in my driveway, so I went over to the BMW, opened the door, it dropped a bit in my hand, alarm bells ringing, then I sat in the drivers seat and my head was about 2cm off the roof and the pedals way too close together for my UK Size 12 feet to drive.

I was real !Removed! off, parents suggested I buy a new car, I bought the Fiesta and have been very unhappy ever since. Then as an insult, a BA XR6 Falcon in manual come up for sale on the Australian Ford Forums for $14,000. My face went red and I started yelling at the PC when I saw that lol.

Thats why I'm stuck with that powerless piece of crap lol. I'm thinking about selling it, if I can't get much for it I'm going to mod it up, then pass it down to mummy dearest later :)

while I'm here, whats the difference between the KW Coilovers with INOX line and ones without? Does it justify an extra 200 euro?

So you wanted a BA XR6 Falcon, looked at 2 mint R34 Nissan Skylines, Mazda 6 Sports Luxury in manual, E36 BMW 328i Coupe and then went out and bought a 1.6 Fiesta and now your complaining its to slow and ‘quote’ a “powerless piece of crap”

Mmmmmmmm  I think someone really needs a reality check here …

It may come as a shock to you but a 1.6 fiesta is never going to be in the same league as any of the above cars.

Oh, I know but anything to improve it in any way is much better.

The Mountune site now says it ships worldwide, and, after viewing the brief roadtest on the Autoexpress top 20 list, it sounds the bees-knees. As a pocket-rocket, it comperes with the Alfa Mito 1.4, the Fiat 500 Essesse, and Clio 200 Cup. :-- 20 BHP boost and 2 secs off the 0-60 MPH time, and a year's warranty (not transferrable to another car.)
