The garage is wrong. Completely. The charger will tell its own truth about the state of charge (often referred to here as SOC.) Don't worry about that. Do not reset the BMS. Charge the battery fully and expect it to take a couple of short runs to relearn what it needs to convince itself it is all right. We on here are very well versed in the idiosyncracies of Ford battery management, and most of us know more about this than Ford dealers as we see many similar cases every week. Your dealer will be doing a roaring trade in replacement batteries that will have had their lives shortened by unneccessary use of the BMS reset. When charging, do not connect your charger to the negative pole of the battery. instead follow the thick black cable from there and connect your charger's negative clip to the other end of it where it is bolted to the body. Your Ford dealer probably doesn't do this either but it has to be done this way as the BMS sensor is between the negative pole and earth. This is the widget that monitors current going in and out of the battery which is how it senses how fully charged it is. This is not a matter of opinion, this is the correct procedure. Follow it and all will be well.

Sorry, another daft question incoming. The garage said that the car battery was 48% charged and that the air-conditioning doesn't work as it will not run when the battery is below 60% When I charge the battery will the charger tell me the battery charge % or is this in the car settings somewhere? BTW the garage said that the BMS would definitely need to be reset after trickle charging. Thank you

It's likely failed where the rear edge of the undertray bolts to it, because the undertray is material when it gets wet it holds the water up against the subframe and it rots. I've welded up 2 that have failed mot's it's only usually a small hole, it's not a bad job to do if you don't mind welding upside down and can be done with everything except the undertray still on the car.

They are only around £80 from Ford. I'm not 100% sure this is the correct one though, you should confirm with the seller. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/397251517216

Also sync update wouldn't cause tpms faults, they are different modules. Might just a coincidence.
