A site box seems like the way forward indeed, had a look at one this morning atm i wasn't able to test how well it opens inside the van. Unfortunately the only register i have with serials numbers is the PAT test certificate, and that... is so beaten up it's unreadable. I must say truly caught me out, next time i will be far more prepared. Seems i was naive putting my trust in just the van door locks... Greg thank you for the offer mate it's much appreciated but i have been given some help from a family member and hopefully i will be able to replace all my tools by the end of next week. Some of my tools were direct order from manufacture as they aren't stocked in stores.2 points

Having just bought a Focus Zetec (2010) 100 1.6, I have a few ideas I will want to implement, and so I thought I'd ask a few questions before I go out and splash my dosh. 1. from what I have read and seen the radio can be changed, I want to install a navigation radio, how hard is this and can anyone recommend a model fo radio? 2. Change interior light bulbs to bright white LEDs, can anyone recommend a bulb or what type I should be looking out for. 3. Is it possible to change the headlights to white LED bulbs too? Or would I have to stay with Xeon bulbs? Thanks in advance.1 point

ah i bought a kit in the end, £49 for the axel stands, jack, roll trolley etc (which i'll probably only use when im decorating the skirting boards in the house lol) but cheaper than the £80 ramps they were selling and also they had it incorrect marked (should have been £69) :) i'll give it all a go tomorrow, where's the best place to jack the car up (dont say the driveway haha)1 point

thats simply an awesome how to guide , a purely proffessional write out, do you want a job at Haynes manuals? <_< simply brilliant, but i wont be doing this unless i put them in place of my mirror puddle lights. yunii1 point

I was considering adding a new exhaust to my 2012 fiesta 1.6 TDCI ZS Is there much difference between the two systems apart from the £100 ? Which is louder ? Or which gives the better performance ?1 point

Who says I sleep? That's what caffeine drinks were designed for ;) Usually when I'm not on duty I'm on call so that's why I like getting abroad at least once a year so no phone calls at 3am. My working dogs live with me so when my phone goes the Wife is used to me disappearing at ungodly hours, good job she's not a jealous or suspicious person. One benefit is shed loads of overtime and on-call premiums. (pays for the holidays that she enjoys so much). :d1 point

Totally feel for you, thieving swine are a bane on the lives of hard working Tradesmen. I'm glad you got a good response from your local Officers, hopefully the CCTV comes up with workable intelligence. I definitely recommend that any new tools you get are deep engraved with a name or postcode for recognition or you at least note any and all serial numbers.1 point

I bought these ones for my fiesta as all of the LED point down so all the light was shining of the numberplate. Best/Brightest cheapy LED ones I have found....and trust me I have tried loads of them. If your budget it higher though I would love to see the difference in the ones that Lenny has suggested as for that money I would want the type that BMW have on some of their cars.....super super bright ice white light. If they are that good I would consider replacing mine. But the ones in the link below are the best ones I have found so far... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/330871336034?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l26491 point

Swap you mate,Your focus is a much better base model to begin with, Rear electric windows, folding mirrors, The Mk3 model must share an earth feed with the wing mirror light unit in some way or perhaps they used the door as an earth, If you bolt a ring terminal to the body this will work as a negative feed, so you too would only require a positive feed, The ford puddle lights would be an easy mod for you now that you have positive feed from the interior light in there already.1 point

i did cover most where i could with small paint brush.i didnt have all wiring, i added 2 wires to work it & enable in elm327 DDM & PDM section on gem, but tezza discovered you only need one wire with uk mk3 style switch to work. my mods are clearly not as good as yours. yunii1 point

You will be fine with the reverse light as its not mot testable, not too sure about the fog light though. I suspect if its only a very slight tint then you will be fine.1 point
-
Yeah that looks smart , I may have to purchase that badge too :-P but I also want to keep my titanium on so I hope it doesn't look to odd with different fonts ! Will be doing the rear fog light replacement soon to as just bought one off a fellow focus owner off here :-)1 point

Theres nothing wrong with the fiesta, I used to love driving my sons when he was learning to drive, it came with allsorts of freebies, like free petrol, free insurance and road tax. My mondeo never turned a wheel for nearly six months till he passed his test, I nearly cried when I had to start putting petrol in mine1 point

all sorts of ways to beat the scrotes, but making something visually more secure is often enough to put off your average **** and move them on to something more vulnerable. ive gone to quite long lengths to make it harder, can be a pain to get in myself let alone a !Removed!, but can save a fortune. do a search on van security suppliers sites, dont have to spend a fortune either. as an eg....my last van had sliding doors both sides, plus a big steel cage bulkhead...i welded a chain to inside of sliding doors, which i then fed through the bulkhead and padlocked it..impossible to slide door open unless padlock hidden behind front seats were removed..i also removed all the tailgate handles and key barrels, welded a chain inside and padlocked to floor, can only be opened from inside.. all that only cost the price of decent chain and padlocks. then spent a few bob on decent locks and armour plates for front doors...enough to put off the passing toe rag chancer. inside the van, fitted a inexpensive box that bolted to floor, then welded a chain to lid and padlocked that to floor too..also fitted a simple but hidden seperate immobiliser, didnt rely on built in and alarm system in five years, never got touched despite a couplke of occasions of streets getting targeted that i was parked in...best 300 notes i ever spent...you dont have to break the bank, but you do have to be vigilant in not thinking, sod it, im only gone for 5 mins...use the security EVERY time. currently securing up the new one Tony stylee...but for obvious reasons, not listing what i do this time <_< if your self employed...ride it out, you wont regret it even if it takes a year to get back on your feet1 point

as soon as you make any change you need to tell them, as if they come out and find that you have done something small that is appropriate, it could write off your insurance! call them up and say you have X Y and Z as plans for the car, and ask for a quote for all of them! re affirm you havent done it yet, however if the price is right, tell them you want to take that quote if you take it now (before you do the mod's) it saves you having to pay admin charges after each mod...1 point

gutted for you mate, been there on more than one occasion myself, still trying to get back where i was before the last one few months ago. stick with it mate, call in favours or ask for favours, borrow or hire, whatever it takes to keep you going,...dont let the lowlifes win, they'll get their come uppance sooner or later. its harsh out there right now and vans are an easy target, you need eyes out the back of your head and be ultra vigilant [mate had power tool stolen out of van whilst stuck in traffic, by time he realised what was going on it was too late) ride it out best you can, going to be tough but stick it out..you wont regret it hope the OB followthis through to the full...but from experience (too much unfortunately) unless its an easy nick they just end up putting it on file1 point

Sorry to here this, can you not lend a bit gear, buy some cheap gear enough to get on, look on gumtree etc you might come across your own gear stranger things have happened. I hope it works out for you though.1 point

Got another question, but about insurance this time. When does it become viable that I phone up my insurance company (Hastings Direct) and tell them what I would like to/have done to the vehicle? Im talking about things like scuff plates, changing the gear knob, putting pedal caps on, fitting some mats and that kinda thing. I know if I got a spoiler or bumper or whatever, i'd need to let them know. But where exactly is the line between some common sense in wanting to keep your car clean and tidy, and classing them as "modifications" that invalidate your insurance...?1 point

If your on finance its worth just saving your money and invest in some alloys that you like then just swap them over onto every car you have on finance, that way the stock alloys stay pristine so ford cant charge you for them and you could always sell the alloys if one day for release a car with alloys you actually like!! Right then; I've treated myself to some basic stuff so far. Ordered a set of 4 mats, the "aluminium sports" pedals and a carbon-white gel badge for the steering wheel! Pretty excited! I'll chuck some pictures up when they arrive/are installed :) Also, I see that there's an actually modification section/fiesta section in the forum, I have no problem with a mod moving this thread to where it probably should be or where it would be better suited :)1 point

If the key is programmed onto the car it will count as a second key and will allow you to unlock the programming phase on the pats. If it is (as I suspect it will be) a cloned key then the car will not recognise it as a second key and will not unlock the programming. If you are adding a second key properly, the only way to do it is via the car using a vcm/ids terminal.1 point
