I do like having a very long extended walk with Pipper, even though it was raining. We did about 36 miles or so over the course of 9-10 hours, and she would've been happy to go further; spaniels like collies don't seem to tire easily. I, however, was starting to get a bit hungry Following the old railway line (that's now a bridleway) into the outskirts of Poole and then a Roman/old quarrying road to the northern foreshore of Poole harbour. We then sort followed the coast, either on it or on roads that ran near it, until we came down to the beaches of Sandbanks. Once on the beach, we kept going to till we were below Southbourne, where we left the beach and walked along the B3059 into Christchurch, and then out the other side to pick up the Avon Trailway. Just after Sopley, we left the trailway and headed towards West Parley and on to Ferndown. Essentially doing a big loop on where we had come from, but 8-10 miles north. We then had a detour in Ferndown Forest and met some huskies, who were practising wheeled sled racing. Pipper and some of the huskies who were waiting for their turn with the sled, had a group sniff of each others bits. We then left the forest to go back towards Hampreston and pick up the river Stour path (east of where we walked yesterday) to come back into Wimborne and then home. Now I've stopped, both my quads and glutes feel rather stiff It wasn't a strenuous walk, so I'm not entirely sure why3 points

I like my dad's new car port! It's great to have my beloved Focus protected when I visit! Although I will have some competition from the Range Rover and Aston (when it arrives) but one of them may be magically parked elsewhere when I visit. It's not quite finished but till do for now. Shame my car is covered in salt! I hate winter. Oh and I also like my new dashcams that were fitted last week!2 points

To be honest I'd trust Pipper to work on my washing machine more than I would half of the "engineers" advertised locally...2 points

Goodyear EfficientGrip Performance. Has great dry grip as you'd expect from any tyre, but it's really the wet grip that makes it stand out. Quieter than most tyres too.2 points

Exactly Still, much quieter than the vast majority of diesels. And no DPF/turbo issues to deal with either!2 points

Looks like sump parts to me. Possibly a rod shattered and took the sump out on the way. Sent from my SM-G930F2 points

I do like taking Pipper for her first extended stroll, up to Wimborne, then along the river Stour, to Cowgrove (which today lacked the huge crowd of cows that are normally there - perhaps they all being milked at the point we passed). We then went up the Roman road, through Kingston Lacy estate and on to Badbury Rings. where Pipper introduced herself to a pair of Rotties (brother and sister) and three unrelated Standard Poodles. We returned a slightly different route, eventually meeting up with and following the river Allen back into Wimborne. Here's some Pipper is now having a post walk snooze beneath my chair, using both her cuddly haggis and my jeans as a pillow Pipper watching as I pick up her lead, 5 hours ago, before we set out. Pipper, requesting non-stop stroking whilst I'm typing one handed Pipper, watching her bowl about to touch down on the carpet Another snooze, this time after tea2 points

Although the interior in your Golf may feel a little more premium than the Focus, take a Focus out for a thrash on some windy roads and you'll soon 'feel' the difference in terms of steering feedback, cornering grip etc.2 points

Without stripping a door card off, can anyone tell me the size of the rear door speakers. MkII Focus. Thanks in anticipation.1 point

Hello I have a Focus Titanium 2008 2.0 Diesel. I have a few niggles with the car I'd like to sort out. Not sure where best to go, my husband is useful for basic things but wonder if maybe we need to go to a mechanic... 1-Air Con Light. Always stays on when the fan is on. Doesn't matter where we turn the dial, the switch stays illuminated. Only way to turn off is by turning the fan to 0. Not a major pain but costing us money in fuel consumption if we want to warm the car up for the kids in winter. 2-Parking Sensors The sensors on this car are stupid/useless. The front ones come on when they like and usually when I'm on a motorway and not when I'm trying to park! The back ones don't come on at all. I'd like to disconnect them but no idea how. Like I said minor niggles but enough to bother me. Thanks for reading C1 point

The lumen output of HID bulbs can deteriorate by up to 70% over 10,000 burning hours so will need replacing if too dull. Sent from my SM-G930F1 point

I'd say Continental premium contact, loved those tyres and never had an issue, currently have Michelin primacy but haven't had too many miles with them. yet so hard to say but we all differ with what we prefer. Just go for a good brand at decent price, won't be as cheap but with tyres you really do get what you pay for.1 point

The biggest problem with any modern exhaust will be at the cat as the thing gets that hot the bolts (even on a newish system) can be difficult to undo. Some times the only way is to cut and/or grind them off and replace with new(probably need new even if they do come off). As stef123 says a good blowtorch and penetrating oil will often work well too on stubborn nuts. Most cars come with a one piece system so you nearly always have to chop the old one some where to get it off . New systems usually come in several parts so you can mix and match ie resonated or not resonated de cat or cat .But in real terms the job in itself is not to bad just more difficult when lying on your back on the cold floor in the winter1 point

Thanks everyone for the help, I did install one in the end and whatever people say about it not doing anything that's not the point of why I (or other younger people) want to put that makes marginal difference on these. It's about having little experience with cars and not a big budget to do massive gains in power on a car - because we can't, see so many people on forums (not this one) tearing young drivers apart for wanting to mess around with their car because "it makes no difference" it's crazy! And just as a post install review it improves the throttle response a tiny bit and it sounds pretty good when you accelerate (not too loud so you won't get an ASBO) thanks again everyone1 point

AFAIK I'm pretty sure this is spot-on correct. You can buy a separate add-on bluetooth module, that connects to the AUX port, and can sit in the glovebox. There is even a Ford part lying around somewhere, but someone else might be able to advise better...1 point

I don't like the fact that the check engine light went on while test-driving a 15 plate Mondeo this morning... Doesn't exactly inspire confidence!! I'm hoping it was just a lemon, because out of all the mediocre cars I've test-driven, it was the one I liked the most. It had the 2.0 Ecoboost, so it went like a stabbed rat :)1 point

ETIS is correct about the engine, both of our cars have the Duratec version of the Sigma (engine). Zetec was an older version of the Sigma engine, and isn't found in the Mk2 Focus. It featured in the Mk1 Focus. Both produce the same amount of horsepower, but the Duratec has 5Nm more torque, and presumably a better tune / lower emissions. For the second part, that was probably me. :)1 point

I don't know if this is the case on the Fiesta but generally speaking the ECU and BCM are cryptographically tied together and the simplest swap (i.e. without neutralising the BCM or recoding keys etc) would likely mean doing the engine, ECU, BCM and lock barrels. I would imagine it's doable however I can't help but wonder that if the goal is a 1L turbo Fiesta then that's probably what you are best trying to get hold of using your car and breaking the donor to help fund it? Of course, if you're doing it for fun, challenge, education etc then I'm right behind you! Note that the resale value will likely be heavily impacted as a result of an engine upgrade.1 point

Ah fair does pal i get you Well you wont be disappointed with the car lad, awesome little engine, i drove a 100ps Zetec model before i bought mine and was smitten. Then decided to get the 140 version because im greedy!1 point

was a focus problem due to the design and materials used on a small bore coolant pipe that went brittle due to the higher coolant temps on ecoboost. ive seen quite a few 120k mileage vehicles with no issues.1 point

I like receiving a large Jiffy bag in the post today! 3x100 watt equivalent(actually 10 watt) LED standard lightbulbs and 2x40 watt(3watt) LED cooker hood bulbs. Instant light now in the sittingroom and outside the back door as opposed to waiting 5 minutes for the old ones to heat up, and I can actually see what I'm burning now on the cooker!!! Am I sad in getting excited over LED bulbs?1 point

Those codes certainly look like the IC fault that is very very common on 2006 Foci. Of the two signals from the accelerator, one goes to the IC, and is then sent to the PCM via the HS CAN bus. The other signal goes direct to the PCM. The IC fault often affects the HS CAN bus, so may well cause throttle deviations. Try tapping the facsia around the IC. It may make it better, or worse (don't do it in the middle of nowhere!), either way would help narrow it down. A simple resistance test can diagnose some faults on the HS CAN bus: Stick a couple of suitable probes (un-bent paper clips can work quite well) in the diagnostic connector pins 6-14, put a DMM across the pair on voltage range, turn ignition on, note reading, turn ignition off, wait till voltage drops to zero (+/- 1 or 2 mV), switch to resistance range to check for 60 ohms. It should be stable at close to 60 ohms, any deviations would indicate a problem. I made a pdf about a repair to my IC. Some companies offer to repair them for about £100, a Ford dealer will relieve of over £800 for a new one. One caution: You do need to be fairly certain it is the IC at fault before sending it for repair. There are some connectors and other bits that can also have similar effects, but the IC fault is the most common. PDF should be here: http://www.fordownersclub.com/forums/applications/core/interface/file/attachment.php?id=404911 point

so been doing a little big of thinking and seem that it's going to be a cheeper option to fabricate myself a spit for the welding work than buying one, so that my next plan while I build that ill look at ordering some pre-cut arch filler and the forest arch and spliter set as all the shell parts will be here and I can get that done1 point

Check out Youtube for 'pod filter' on the mightcarmods channel, pod filters don't give any extra power, for me it has on my 1.4 TDCi as the OEM airbox is very restrictive, its the throttle response that really improves in my experience.1 point

First of all. What engine do you have? does it have a turbo? If not its not worth adding an induction kit/CAI. also, without a heatshield you'll suffer from heatsoak regardless of a cold air feed as it'll still suck in the hot air. Also, you've got to consider whether the potential power gains are worth the additional cost on your insurance... If you install it you'll also need an oil catch can of some sort otherwise the camshaft breather that currently feeds into your airbox will just spray a fine mist of oil everywhere over time1 point

Yours isn't an ST so all the bulbs are w5w / 501. If you have map reading lights then it's 3 in the front, 2 for the foot wells and 1 for the rear seats (if you have one on the 3 door) also 1 for the glove box and the boot.1 point
