17" Alloys To 16" Alloys

Hi there,

New to the forum and have a question straight off the bat. I have a 55 plate Mondeo 130BHP Ghia X, this vehicle came fitted with the standard 17" alloys 205/50/R17 W. I've got hold of a set of these 16" alloys.

Question 1: Should these alloys fit straight onto my vehicle, it would appear they should, any issues from fitting these instead of the 17"'s obviously I'm aware the Ghia only model came with 16"s but just checking.

Question 2: What tyres should I be looking to get fitted to these alloys, at the moment I believe they have 205/50/R16 V on them and having found some mondeos for sale online and then run the reg plates on tyre websites these are the rated tyres they suggest. Wondering if I need the same speed rating as my old alloys and whether I need XL tyres on these alloys as from checking these oter cars it would seem not.

Sorry for all the questions to start off with, hope you can help,
