Powershift Issue

Featured Replies

Hi there.  Back in the Ford world after an unfortunate few years with an unreliable BMW!

Still miss my ST220 which was wiped out in 2014 by a texting lorry driver :-(

Anyway, just bought a 2.0 Mondeo Ecoboost 2010 (203 PS).  Really happy with the car, needed for size and the missus's new love of auto's.

Driving the car the other day away from other traffic lights, the car revved a little higher than usual then lurched forward.  This happened on a few occasions now.  Later whilst driving at approx. 60 mph, the revs again rose with the 'limited gearbox functionality' warning displayed.  This cleared after restarting the engine then the car drove normally again.  The car hasnt had the same issue since.

Looking through the service history, I found a 'hidden' receipt in the owners manual from a garage which stated that the customer had complained of a jerky gearbox.  The oil had not been changed for 50,000 miles.  The oil was replaced with the customer stating it drove better afterwards.  I should have researched the powershift gearbox issues before I bought the car.  Im nearly at the 3 month dealership warranty.  The cynic in me reckons the garage will just fob me off in running up and down to his garage until the 3 month period expires.

Sorry its long winded.  I was wondering if anybody as suffered the same symptoms as me.  I was thinking of maybe changing the oil again from a ford garage as the job was done at a regular garage.  I'm wondering if it was done correctly.  If the worse was to happen, how much am I looking at for a replacement box and any recommendations for specialists? Im lincolnshire based.

Thanks guys

The dealership warranty is in addition to your statutory rights.

transmission oil and filter should be changed every 37.5k or 3 yrs whichever is sooner. not a cheap job to do.

If a fault is reported within the warranty period then as far as I am aware the warranty covers that particular issue until it is repaired and no longer a concern.
