Transit / Transit Custom double seat swivel base

Featured Replies

Hi, we have had so many enquires through here over time regarding our double swivel base to fit a Transit (2013 onwards) and Transit Custom (2013 onwards), so just thought it would be easier to just drop you guys a quick post on here.

Here is the brand new double seat swivel base designed by the Customshop team (Community Registered Design 001382212-0001) The Ford Transit custom double seat swivel base is the only crash tested double passenger swivel base on the market. The locking points work on a unique 1/4 turn 'quick release' system so removing all 4 fixing bolts and rotating the base takes literally seconds! They are manufactured in the UK and made from 4mm laser cut steel (raises the seat by 45mm), and has passed seat belt anchorage safety tests using a pull test on a specialist test rig to EC Directive 76/115/EEC as amended by 2005/41/EEC which is a standard requirement for insurance companies when making this type of modification to your camper van and also peace of mind for transporting your friends and family around. The base allows you to rotate the double passenger seat 180 degrees and lock the seat in the reverse position to completely transform the living area in your van. Fits all Transit models from 2013 onwards and is available in Left hand and Right hand drive versions. Fixes directly to the existing floor mounts so no drilling required, installation takes approximately 40 mins from start to completion.

But with the output stuck at 2000Bar, that sounds like a duff transducer. Back-probing the sensor connector might double check whether the ECU is giving a false reading, or there is a wiring fault, or sensor fault. These transducers almost always have a simple 3 wire connection: +5v, ground and a signal. The signal is usually either 0 to 5v or 0.5 to 4.5v.

So if the sensor is putting out over 4v on its signal line with the Ign on, Engine off, it is very likely to be duff. But check that the ground is getting to the sensor, a broken ground connection will have a similar effect.

Thanks again Peter,  ok. Did a check on one of the outside harness pins to see if there was an earth and no beep from meter.

Gave it a good wiggle and tested beep against pressure sensor body and negative post on battery (to test meter is working)

Flicked on ignition and getting 5v at one outer pin on harness. Established which is 5v and which is ground and I can't get a beep. Voltage through ground wire 2.4 2.5. Should be 14 if I'm right?

Sounds likely there's a break in ground harness wire to PCM, would you agree?

Yes, it is looking like that.

That engine looks like a Lynx (1.8TDCI), on that the sensor connections are:

Pin 1 = Vout, Pin2 = GND, Pin 3 = VREF (5v).

I can post a faceview of the Lynx sensor connector if needed. But middle pin is Ground.

Pin2 goes via the ECU, I think it is hard wired to main battery -ve there, but certainly should be 0v when ignition is on.

The measured voltage on a broken ground wire is hard to predict, it will not be 14v, but 2.4v to 2.5v sounds quite possible.
