Leak in Boot and under carpets!

Featured Replies

Hi there!

New here and I come with a bit of a problem. I've found over the last couple of weeks my 2008 Focus Zetec (Mk2 - I believe) started developing a bit of foisty smell and noticed the windows were steaming up a lot. I thought it may have just been the air con however after being away for a week, I returned to find the rear seats were soaking. On further inspection the spare wheel well had an inch of water in it and the driver side rear carpets are completely saturated. The insulation beneath the carpet in the drivers side footwell is also completely saturated. It appears to be rain water and not washer fluid as I thought it might be. Furthermore the leak is from no obvious place in the boot, the top of the boot carpet was reasonably dry however the bottom was soaking.

I'd checked out the below thread by WES180 however having pulled the bungs from beneath the bumper, no water has come out and when sticking a finger in (hehe) I can feel the insulation in there is bone dry. So, given that no water appears to be in the cavity underneath the bumper, I don't want to go ahead and take the bumper off for no reason.

Any suggestions at all? Thanks in advance!
