Rear brakes drum&shoes or disc&pads?

Featured Replies

Hi,

I was sold a full set front and rear brake pads for a 2007 Ford focus mk2 automatic 1.6

The mechanic said you've been sold the wrong thing this car doesn't have rear pads - it has rear drums and shoes

Was I conned ? Or do some focuses have rear pads and the seller wasn't to know which type I had ?

Thanks

Pretty sure the 1.6 has rear drums but front should be fine

It does have drums. But I was sold Rear PADS for it. Did the seller know that 1.6 focus doesn't have pads, or do some have pads and they were sold in good faith

Part sellers rarely know what they're selling.

The estates usually have disc rears regardless of engine size do that can confuse them.  There will probably be a disclaimer on the advert telling you to physically check before buying.

IIRC, with the petrol MK2s, only the 2.0 had rear discs (my Ghia does) and all others have drums...
