Engine not starting

Featured Replies

Hi,I have a 57 plate 1.8 diesel galaxy, engine blew up and replaced with a used one.trying to start it up and its not working.starts with easy start, filling fuel filter with diesel and its drawing that but doesnt seem to draw fuel through the fuel line.any help much appreciated

Hi ViewingPete, On the modern diesel there is no manual fuel lift pump. Garages have a pump that fits in the fuel line to draw the fuel up from the tank. I improvised one myself out of an old hand oil pump and it has worked for me every time, 11 services now. The fuel has to be drawn up from the tank through the filter to the common rail pump. The first time I tried cranking the engine on the key but soon realised I was killing my starter moter. (not recomded).  If you can't make a pump yourself you may be able to hire one. Hope this helps.
