Hey,

Does anyone know where I could get replacements for the plastic inserts that sit in the fixing points while the roofs bars are fitted? It's for a 2009 S-Max with a solid roof and fixing points (Roof Bars are part number 1724850 (image attached).

Did you find these? I'm also looking - and for the bolts. I bought a used S-Max roof bar set and the bolts aren't original.

My Focus MK2 bolts and covers seem to fit, but I want to sell the roof bar with those - covers not quite the same colour.

 

I assume they are available from a Ford dealer ?

Hi Tim, I fund a set on e-bay for 50 pounds. Which is ridiculous. I found this on Aliexpress: https://nl.aliexpress.com/item/1005002586944860.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.73d84c4dlivHdU

It came quite fast (in 2 weeks).  The size is the same, but it does not fit 100%. But with a hot screwdriver, I managed to make it fit. The form is also a bit different; the original has kind of 'bow', the AliExpress is 100% straight. However, for 10 EUR (I'm from The Netherlands) still a bargain and it works like the original 🙂

This is great. I wish I had seen this before ordering on Ebay. I found them for £10.99 each which is insanely expensive, but I can confirm they do fit perfectly. If you look closely at the link below the part numbers are there for all 4 as they each have an individual part no. explained by the curved shape I assume.

I've recently bought the car and intend on keeping it for a while with lots of roof rack use so hopefully I can get over the difference in price eventually.... 🙂
