fuel gauge problem

Featured Replies

I have a 05 plate 2lt TDCI  ..I have been noticing irregularities with my fuel gauge it looks like it is sticking ..recently it suddenly dropped from 1/4 tank to zero after going over a speed bump the remaining fuel display also dropped from 100+ to zero and the low fuel light came on  ..I have now seemed to be  very sluggish i have done over 120mls since refueling and the gauge still registers full ..when I turn off the ignition tgheneedle retrurns to zero and returns to the full position when turned on so it does not appear to be the gauge . I am assuming that it could the tank sender unit unless anyone knows otherwise  ...so how do I change it if it is I need to drop the tank or can it be done in situ on the car ...

thanks
