2013 tdci 163 does not like being revved when pullung away from standstill

Featured Replies

i need some advice from other similar car drivers. iv got a 62 plate focus titanium x 2.0 163. im starting to dread pulling away from stand still and even more so iff im on a gradient. the engine revs fine if not in gear and accelerates fine once cars on the move. but it dosnt seem to like me pulling away at more than about 1500 revs. if i do try to pull away a bit quicker the revs drop bk to about 1200 to 1500 . as soon as i start lifting clutch the revs seem to drop too quick . also iv noticed that the revs occasionally do not drop very quickly if i di the clutch. seems to drop revs slowly . has the car got some sort of built in programme in ecu that prevents these issues. i.e to mayb stop undue wear on dmf when pulling away and perhaps a smoother gearchange when pushing clitch down to change gear. its getting on my ***** at the moment.

Needs a PCM update, I had the same thing on my 2012 2.0 TDCI 163, Ford updated under warranty at the time, but you might need to pay for it now.

Yeh i was rather hoping it was a pcm issue. I dare say if car was in for a service they may do the update foc but they want 114 pounds for it. If it cures it id say im glad to spend the money on it coz its not good. However if it does not cure it im at a loss. Is it the same on all the tdci models. I dont hear anyone else mentioning it.

My 2012 1.6 TDCi drives like crap during slow speed and pull aways as well...  I've moaned about it on here before.  Personally I think it's either mapped really badly or there's an issue with injectors or EGR but nothing shows on fault codes or live data.  I can have the PCM updated for £106 but as you say it's a lot to risk when it might make no difference.  As well as the unfixable air con and a few other issues I'm getting a different car.  It's the newest and lowest mileage car I've ever bought...but a long way from the best.
