New egr valve problems.

Featured Replies

I have just fitted a new egr valve (Mondeo mk3 2007 2.0 tdi) having had the engine mgnmt light on for a while. It all went fine but now I get lots of black smoke and very sluggish performance at low revs. Excess fuel in mix maybe)?? The engine light is still on so I'm wondering if this could now be the cause on the now working egr valve. Any ideas thanks.

Update: unplugged wire from egr to ecu and it runs fine. Also reset the ecu on laptop so light off. Unfortunately it still runs badly when the cable is plugged back in and fine when unplugged. Again, any ideas? Cheers

Have you checked the glow plugs?

Could be that now the EGR is working and cooling the internal combustion gases that the glow plugs just are not up to the job anymore.

I would also check your inlet to see for excess dirt and grime etc as a failed (stuck closed) EGR would give the same effect as an unplugged EGR.
