Mondeo 2012 1.6 tdci 2nd gear problem

Featured Replies

I have a 1.6 tdci ecocentric with 45,000 miles done.  Gear changing into 2nd has recently become an issue; it's jumping out (will engage at 2nd time of asking) or not going in properly.

This seams to happen when changing down from 3rd, still present but not as bad when changing up.  All other gear changing on this 6 speed box is okay.  Has this happened to anyone else?  I am dreading taking it to a dealer, but I am also worried about doing damage.  What should I try anyone with the same problem... with a fix.

It may be that the cables on the gearbox need adjusting, it's very fiddly to get right, I tried it once, gave up took it to my local garage who gave a very good knowledge of mondeos
