Why has the price of R134a gone up so dramatically?  And how long ago was that as ATS were still doing cheap regasses last month but I see they're no longer doing it now either.

Reduced production and distribution due to legislation in 2015 limiting supply.

Normally there's 12.5kg.

I got through a bottle in last week alone.

Mine came back from ATS. They said they tried to recharge it twice but it appears there is a leak and told me to get refund from Groupon. They did not want to find the leak for me. Where do I go from here.

Probably of the era where they did that. It's like your fridge that cycles on and off, except at a higher rate.  Modern compressors have a self regulating ability.
