Not really no...  It's all I've been thinking about for weeks now.  I'm useless with decisions as it is but this one genuinely is difficult.  My budget isn't enough for the spec I actually want (Titanium X, or at least an appearance pack/convenience pack on a Titanium) but I just can't really justify spending £9k on a car I don't 'want' either.  I am a car guy so it's not just an A to B thing for me and I'm after something I can keep interested in and take pride in for the next 3 years at least.

What is also annoying is that the Mk6 Golf is great fun, cheaper to run than an EcoBoost as well as having more torque and less weight so it's pokier and handles better than the Focus which I really wasn't expecting after the understeer of the old Mk4s lol.  Everything is so smooth as well, not just the clutch and engine but the steering and brakes as well...the quality and refinement is a world away from Fords.  I even took it to a big German car show today, rather than having to park the Focus outside and walk in as I've done previously lol.  BUT it's not all good, the DPF fails a regen at least 2 or 3 times a week now.  It wasn't so bad when I had the A3 as well, because I could do the short journeys in that as it had no DPF, but now all the short journeys are on the Golf it's really struggling.  So I do need to change to a petrol asap...  And just keep going in circles with this lol!

I've seen a few Focus' at a Auction that could be good...but they may be bid too high by traders that know their markup, and now I've seen the auction fees for private buyers I don't think it'd be worth it anyway.  I'm also checking ebay and Autotrader every day, as well as Gumtree and Facebook.  The local Ford dealer cars are all out of my budget, the cheapest 1.0 Titanium they have is £9.5k and it's done 53000 miles and doesn't have any extras at all... 😒

So yeah...I'm still no closer...  If anyone on here has a facelift 1.0 125ps Titanium they're thinking of selling or part ex'ing for £8k ish...please message me details first...

Take a mk1 Focus for a spin if ya want a good handling Focus, more fun to drive than any Golf from any generation 😁. Especially look for a RS model!

Hi

I have found switching off the hill start assist has helped a bit.  Still not great though.

how has switching off hill start assist helped??.

Hi

It's because when the system was active setting off required to build up a certain amount of load on the drivetrain before it would release.

ok. feasable.  i will try it. but that only works when pulling away on a steepish gradient which i must admit is the most difficult .    has anyobe actually had a remap done on their  car with this issie and it has been cured.  because i would willi gly pay for a remap if it did.   i hate the car for this problem.

I had a remap, solved it. I know others who have had the same problem and one person personally with his 2.0 TDCi black edition.
