1.0 ecoboost low oil pressure engine rattle

The Ecoboost engine has timing belts running in the oil sump. Deposits from the belts get stuck in the primary oil pump inside the sump causing low oil pressure and camshaft timing faults causing engine light and rattle. Remove sump( exhaust off, etc) and remove deposits) more info on my YouTube channel Worthyo

1.0ecoboost sounds like a bad engine to buy, so much for international engine of the year award.  It's seems to have endless problems.

I disagree if you look after them they will last a long time. The only issue I know which was a design flaw relates to the return line to the coolant tank breaking. Most cars have issues and its not really that surprising as they are much more complicated than they used to be.

Advice needed! Have a Ford Fiesta 1.0 ecoboost 2014. We had a major service and MOT done. Passed MOT. We were advised my the garage to have a oil and fuel flush, I questioned it as I know oil change and filters is done part of the service. They recommended due to a lot of build up around the sump. We trusted the advice and paid the extra £40 for that. Now a week later after major service my check oil level warning light came on. Checked oil was on the lowest part of the dipstick (crazy) we topped up with correct oil and checked again to make sure all levels were good (they were) however a few days later oil pressure low warning light flashes up! We call garage they said to bring in they would check etc. Checked oil levels again all was fine. The next morning I start the car and no warning lights (strange) but then the oil pressure low stop safely flashes on and alarm rings and engine cuts out. Couldn’t start the engine. Recovered by AA and they suspected timing belt. We recover to the garage they check and say the timing belt snapped! They would look into it further to see how. Next day we are then told oil pump has failed and caused the timing belt to jump a tooth ( by this time we are saying this isn’t a coincidence) we are now at the stage of them saying they need to strip the engine to see if they are at fault at our cost!!!!! (No way) in a nutshell this car has had no issues prior to this service -oil flush etc! How could stripping the engine give them anymore information then what they have already discovered??? Apart from buying themselves more time. They have had the car for over a week now!!
I have spoken to a Ford specialist who has said oil and fuel flushes are not recommended on ecoboost engines especially one so small.

Oil flushing agents attack the protective coating on the wet belts. You should never use a flushing agent on a wet belt system.

besides that any fuel or oil additives would kill the turbocharger sooner or later because those agents raise the exhaust gas temperature above the level which the turbocharger is designed to handle.

@Worthyo is whats known as a "One Post Wonder" they joined made one post and have never returned to this day.

If you have an Ecoboost engine with a low oil pressure warning, and it also has a bit of a rattle then I'm afraid it's game over and time to start looking for a new engine.
