1 year service?

Featured Replies

Reading conflicting statements about this so wanting a definate answer so as not to void the warranty

I have a 1.0 ecoboost ST-Line registered 30/03/18 meaning at the end of next month it will be 1 year old. Do i need to have a service done by then or at 2 years old/ 18000 miles?

The car has just turned over 900 miles (yep 900) so mileage is nothing, haven't checked oil life recently but hoping i don't need a pointless service to keep the warranty

Cheers

I had this conversation with my dealer, I always changed the oil once a year, but they said with today’s modern oils you don’t need to, so I’m going with that, some will say not to leave it so long, mine will be 2. Years old in October, my oil life was 52 percent last time I checked, and it doesn’t look too bad, what you will need to do is have a yearly check ( mine cost £35 ) to keep the ford assist going, up to you of course if you want to change the oil and filter, it’s a subject that divides opinions,

You don't "need to" but i'm going to have mine serviced at 1 year just for peace of mind.

2 years old/ 18000 miles, according to the service portfolio

Wife's StLineX is booked in for the 12th March, for first year convenience check. Woman on service desk asked if she wants oil flush and change doing on it also? She replied to do whatever needs doing as recommended by Ford on the check. Ours is free so they can do as they wish.

Mine turned 1 year old last September. I tried to get it booked in for a convenience check back then as I’m not happy about it being left for 2 years. The garage didn’t have a clue what a convenience check was and gave the car a free visual check and said bring it back at 18,000 miles or 2 years for its first service.

Also, I don’t understand how the 2year/18000miles interval can only apply to diesel Galaxy, Kuga etc and petrol were every year, but for the new Fiesta even the petrol is 2 years.

Official schedule, as people have said, is 18000 or 2 years whichever comes first.

I didn't own mine from new so had no idea how it had been driven so I got it serviced at 12 months (8000 miles).

Mine's in tomorrow for convenience check + oil and filter as discussed at length on the "Mk 8 Fiesta Maintenance/Main Dealer Impressions" thread currently on p4 of this forum. Must say the car's been running really well this week, must be liking the sunshine - quite a contrast to the blizzard in which I collected it on 1 March last year!

I had a convenience check done about 6 weeks ago having owned the car just over a year.
When I originally bought the car I did enquire about servicing/checks/service plans and was told by my dealer that it was only every 2 years (as mentioned by others) so a service plan wouldn't be needed.
Then mid december I got a text from my dealer reminding me that my first service was due??
Forgot about it until early january, and phoned to book and they said that it was 'only' a convenience check as well as keeping ford assist going.
Tried to book my local dealer where I bough the car, and they had a 5 week waiting list...
Went to the next nearest, having to wait a week for the booking, and they seemed far more helpful regarding setting up  service plan etc, as it makes finances easier with christmas just gone, and having to tax/service that car.

My cars been running well in this warmer weather as well, I guess the ecoboost engine must like the sunshine.

I guess at 12 months old the car will have less than 1400 miles on it so a service is pointless - if i can get the £35 check done and extend the breakdown i'll go for that

Thanks

Does the engine computer tell you when the service is due >>?

No. It tells you oil life on the Mk8.

Service is due around 2 years from the date of first registration.

My understanding is it warns you to change the oil when it gets down to 5% oil life. I don't know if warns of time (days to go) until service interval.
