What Brake Pads?

Featured Replies

Good afternoon all,

Sorry if this has been asked already and I havent found the post, but I was wondering if anyone has swapped out the OEM brake pads for after market ones. Reason I ask is that I have a 68 plate Galaxy and although I appreciate its alot of weight to be stopping, there seems to be excessive brake dust being produced. Is it that the pads are of a softer compound? Has anyone swapped them for a harder compound etc? Im not a heavy braker and certainly not a "last minute braker"

Thanks for looking

Hi there!

I understand your problem as my third Galaxy is always modified by me and I have some experience regarding brakes.

My suggestion is to invest in new brake discs (pagid,or medium range discs),to be honest Not recommending Brembo as a basic disc they are crap but high performance Brembo yes they are great!

Most important is pads! I tried many pads for a street spirit or heavy loaded so no EBC no Ferrodo ,no Brembo Only Blackdiamond Predator fast Road. After beding around 200miles they are great and after 5years on my 2.0 TDCI Galaxy I had around 70% pad left so it's a good investment.

Second is a stainless steel brake hoses to consider.

With yours two-piston calliper brake with 316mm discs you should get decent braking performance.

I'm at the steage where I preparing for next stage brake upgrade for Volvo xc60 two-piston calliper swap and 328mm discs (that is only as far I know for Galaxy from 2006-2014.

Any questions regarding brakes for Galaxy please let me know.

Artur
