Cleaning Collection

Featured Replies

So my Sat night is going to be a boring one. So i plan on seeing just how much hard earned cash has been spent on cleaning products for my car.

Thought everyone could do the same and we could have a little thread/competition with it all

I will complete my post later tonight with my outcome :P

Are you mental? I'm not sure I want to know how much I've spent!!

:lol::lol:

I think whatever the outcome it will be getting kept from my mum

Right - I've done waxes only so far, and passed £500. So I'm stopping out of fear

:blink::blink:

How much wax do you have!

I think i would also stop at that point, will be lucky if my whole collection is anywhere near your wax collection :o

Right then... can't be arsed to work out the value... I think it's somewhere north of £200 :o That's a hell of a lot of money out of £50 a month pocket money!!!

Total £1402

And, worst of all - there's more, quite a bit more

I'll get my coat.

Wow Dan!!! That's quite the collection :o You surely don't use it all, do you?

I use most of it in each detail actually - obviously I alternate some products - especially and waxes and sealants but everything has at least one coat taken out of it (except for the BOS - it's being saved for perfect weather in the summer).

I actually sold quite a lot of stuff recently as well.

In that case, that is most impressive! You have, after all, taught me pretty much everything I know about detailing :)

Still can't quite believe you spent £150 on BoS....nutter :P

Technically - it was a present, from someone with more money than sense - and they demanded an application on their (rather nice) car when they gave it to me

Thats some collection Dan! I bet your car is in mint condition

My collection is in the region of about £100. I have every Autoglym product (which I won in an Autocar competition B) ) , Meguiars clay kit, lambswool mit and microfibre cloths.

<cough> Grammar Police <cough> :P

I'm not too impressed actually Zetec-X - the state of my paint is not at all perfect. I didn't have time to get the polisher out today, but it needs to come out soon.

Have you used Autoglym Ultra Deep Shine then? I think it's the only one I don't have.

Ooops, sorry Alex

Due to the high mileage I do and general lack of time, my paintwork is a bit of a mess at the moment as well.

I have only used "extra gloss protection" on the Fiesta. I plan on using the ultra deep shine in the summer, but I dont want to damage the paintwork by polishing it.

On a side note, does anybody else with a mk7 find their sideskirts have a "hazy" appearance due to people's feet rubbing against them getting in and out the car? What is the best way to correct the paintwork?

I should add that I'm not that bad - check THIS out...

011.jpg

Now that is a wax collection - bearing in mind that Mystery is £350, Crystal Rock is £550 and Divine is £1600 per pot.

I would say that your 'haze' is paint marring - you can probably correct that with Autoglym SRP and a little pressure. Dodo Lime Prime would also do it.

Looks very neat and tidy there Dan. I store most of mine in a boot organiser under the bed out of reach of all

£150 on wax is crazy

I am planning on buying a few bits and pieces tonight:

Dodo Juice Rainforest Rub

Britemax Clean Max - read a few good reviews.

May also have a look at a few spray waxes and a sealant or two in the coming weeks.

No - £8000 on wax is crazy - ala Zymol Royale...and I forgot Zymol Solaris - at £35,000 a pot  :o

I've just ordered some of the new Serious Performance spray wax - will report back.

I like rainforest rub - prefer Purple Haze on my white though.

I came acorss that Zymol Royale the other day actually. Was very tempted B)

Dan, that's a lot of stuff. A lot. I thought I was bad ...

MY current stuff is mainly the stuff I use below, but I reckon around £500-£600 in total otherwise:

Kestrel DA6 Machine Polisher

4x AG Polishing Pads (firm/soft)

DoDo Lime Prime

DoDo Lime Prime Lite

100g AG Clay Bar

4x microfibre cloths

2x medium waffle weave cloths

2x applicator mitts

Detailing Tape

DoDo Blue Velvet Wax

£160 delivered from CleanMitts (with discount)

In addition, I have another 10x microfibre cloths, 2x massive waffle towels for drying, a huge array of AG products (but now use the glass polish, EGP, tar remover, HD Wax and shampoo mostly), microfibre wash-mitts, lambswool wash-mitt (for wheels), various old toothbrushes (wheels), Meguiars clay bar kit and a few other bits.
