New Shocks for 8.8 Axle on Ford Falcon

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I've bought a 1962, heavily-modified Ford Falcon. The rear axle is a Ford 8.8 off of an unknown model. The rear suspension incorporates adjustable air shocks that are pumped up manually (i.e., there is a plastic line going to both shocks with a valve in the middle for attaching a bicycle pump - I've never encountered this before). The line leaks and the car now sits too low for sleeping policemen.

I want to replace the air suspension, installing new shocks allowing the rear of the vehicle to sit higher. Unfortunately, I'm an amateur mechanic and don't know where to begin. What questions do I need to answer before purchasing new shocks?

Many thanks,

Mike
