56 Focus Oil Loss?

Featured Replies

I have searched but cannot locate this topic via the 'search' box.

Ford Focus 56 yr petrol 5 dr 1.6. 100,000 miles.

Using a litre of oil every two weeks. Not burning (no smoke - emissions OK via MOT), not leaking, not in the water. Baffled.

Have tried thicker grades not much difference...

Need a gearbox bearing fixed so wondering if the oil burn was 'normal' at this age.

Thanks in advance for any messages..

I'm not a fan of the search on this forum. I searched for "Focus St225" and came back with everything with focus and 225 in it (more than you think).

Anyway, using more oil at higher miles is normal, however a litre every fortnight is a bit much really. It's possible the PCV valve is blocked though (and not really an uncommon problem)
