Mk2 focus 1.8 petrol

Featured Replies

Hi,

I hope someone can advise me, I bought a 2007 56 plate mk2 1.8 petrol focus, it had engine light on and went to garage to have    a p1008 fault sorted, it’s got no faults on diagnostics now, and through gears 1 to 4 at speeds up to 60 the Rev range seems normal, max 3500, but over 70 and above it’s sitting at 4 or 5 k, is that normal? Good pick up and acceleration but must be too high on fuel consumption, any advice is welcome 🙏

They are high revving engines, mine always felt like it was screaming up the motorway. That’s all down to the gear box though, so not a lot that could be done about it.

Loving my new 1.5 diesel, that cruises along at 70 in 6th gear just ticking over at about 2000 rpm.

Is it an auto?  If not, 5th should be around 3-3500rpm at 70mph, annoyingly loud and poor for fuel economy but shouldn't be anywhere near 5k.
