Which service option?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I am looking to take my Ford Fiesta in for service and want your advice. My Fiesta is a 2015 Ecoboost and has roughly 22000 miles on it.

Last year I had it serviced with Ford's 3 Years / 37500 option (£295). Now the car is nearing 4 years old, there are two options here in the UK.

1) 4 Years /50000 Miles Scheduled Service (£215)

2) Motorcraft Service (£159)

What is the difference between the two? Will I still get the appropriate stamp/documentation with the Motorcraft option? I'm set on getting Ford to do it and not a third party.

Thank you in advance for your advice.

- Alex

How come you're so keen on getting Ford to change your oil and filter? It's not exactly something that can be done wrong lol/

You get breakdown cover included with you service, worth  having.

*Basic breakdown cover.

Not all dealers offer it, and even then it's only on newish cars. Oh and should you breakdown, they'll take it to a Ford dealership which means a pretty steep repair bill. Better off servicing it yourself (costs less than £30 and an hour of your time) or taking it to a local garage (less than £100) and then buying breakdown cover separately if you really need it. It would certainly work out a lot less than the extortionate prices Ford charge.

No its full cover and the garage of your choice or it was last year with my old 09 plate mondeo.

Assuming that Ford will be doing it, which of the options would be best? What's the differences?

The Motor craft service uses cheaper parts I allways used the motorcraft one.

Hi all, I have gone for the 4 year option. I know my car is nowhere near the mileage but it's my last year of full Ford servicing. After that I will go for Motorcraft or DIY.

A service plan works out cheaper if you're planning on using main dealer servicing for the next few years. Motorcraft will be cheaper still, but they'll fit reconditioned parts to keep the cost down. Depends what you want.

From the Motorcraft terms and conditions:

Please note that a Motorcraft Service is designed for vehicles that are outside of their Warranty Period. This is because a Motorcraft Servicing does not fulfil the Service Criteria for Warranty purposes.

You pays your money...

You need to check with whichever dealer/garage you're having the Motorcraft service with. Some include the recovery in the price, some charge extra for it.

My recovery certificate from the Motorcraft service was the same one as I got from a full Ford service.
